NASHVILLE, Tenn. Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a country music singer who was allegedly shot by the owner of a downtown bar.

The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1cKpENz) reports 44-year-old Wayne Mills was shot by Pit and Barrel bar owner Chris Ferrell around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Ferrell told police he shot Mills in self-defense following an argument over Mills smoking a cigarette in a non-smoking area of the bar. Mills later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police spokeswoman Kris Mumford says investigators are looking into Ferrell’s claims of self-defense. She said no arrests have been made in the case.

Mills, a native of Arab, Ala., toured with the Wayne Mills Band, which often performed on the college circuit.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 21-year-old community college student has been charged in the fatal shooting from early Saturday morning outside a Minneapolis bar, according to the Hennepin County Attorney.Cedric Chappell, Jr., who lived in south Minneapolis but went to school in North Dakota, was charged with second-degree murder Wednesday in the fatal shooting of Willie James Smith III, 22, of St. Paul.Chappell was also charged with attempted second-degree murder for shooting at another man in the incident, who was injured.Police were called around 2 a.m. Saturday to the Blue Nile Nightclub in Minneapolis, after a fight broke out at the bar, located at 2027 E. Franklin Ave.The fight spilled out into the parking lot where the shooting took place.According to a criminal complaint, two groups outside the bar began shooting at each other. During the shootout, Chappell shot Smith in the chest and shot the other man in the leg, according to the charges.Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

Police investigating shooting at Thomasville club

Police are looking into a nightclub shooting that left two people injured Sunday morning in Thomasville.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting about 2:39 a.m. at LJ’s Lounge at 120-B W. Main St. near downtown. They found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the club, and another victim had already been transported to Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center by friends, said Thomasville Police Department Det. Brad Saintsing.

Both victims were eventually transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. One victim has been treated and released while the other is currently listed in stable condition.

Saintsing said TPD is not releasing the victims’ names at this time.

“According to witnesses, the shooting occurred after numerous fights broke out inside the club,” Saintsing said in a statement.

Saintsing said detectives are following up on leads.

“At this time, we are not going to speculate on a potential motive,” Saintsing said.

Man Killed Outside Of Club Vex In Dayton, OH

DAYTON — A 27-year-old man was killed downtown about 3:30 a.m. Monday after an altercation at Club Vex on St. Clair Street near Fourth Street.

The incident spilled across the street near the Arby’s and that’s where police found Mikeal Harris of Dayton, lying on the ground.

A man said he heard seven to 13 gunshots and then saw officers swarming the area.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office is not releasing the name of the deceased until his relatives are notified.

Police are investigating and searching for the shooting suspect.

3 SHOT INSIDE PLUSH NIGHTCLUB IN JACKSONVILLE, FL

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Shots rang out injuring three, as people tried to leave a busy nightclub early Friday morning.

Following what detectives describe as a, “mass exodus of people,” around 2:15 a.m. from Plush Night Club, three people were found shot, according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Sgt. Steve Zona.

The three gunshot victims were transported from the nightclub in the 800 block of University Boulevard North to an area hospital. One victim is currently in critical condition, the other two are currently in stable condition.

All three victims were shot inside the nightclub, according to JSO.

A fourth person drove themselves to a local hospital with what was initially believed to be a gunshot wound, but was later determined to be a cut. That victim is listed in stable condition.

An investigation is ongoing and detectives are interviewing witnesses and victims at this time.

Montgomery, AL Man Gets 3 Years In Prison For Nightclub Shooting

MONTGOMERY, Alabama — A Montgomery man has been sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison for his role in a nightclub shooting that injured six people.

U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller ordered the sentence Monday for 26-year-old Timothy Cortez Robinson.

Robinson pleaded guilty in June to being a felon in possession of a gun. He admitted that he used a .45-caliber Glock to exchange gunfire with another man at the Rose Supper Club in Montgomery on Dec. 3, 2012. The six injuries led to the nightclub losing its liquor license.

The judge also ordered Robinson to spend three years on supervised release and pay $100.

Police Looking for Suspect Involved In Shooting @ Divas Gentlemens Club Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect in a fatal shooting.

Police say they have not received any tips in connection with a homicide at Divas Gentlemans Club Sunday morning.

Police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Joshua Tevis to please come forward.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning police say they got a call for a fight that broke out in the parking lot of Divas Gentlemens Club on Russell Cave Road. Police say witnesses said two people started shooting at each other during the fight.

When police arrived they found at least 30 shots had been fired, hitting seven cars and one man, 22-year-old Johntel Crocker, in the chest.

Police say it’s unclear at this time whether Crocker was involved in the shooting or if he was a bystander. One shooter is described as a man about six feet tall, wearing gray sweatpants and a gray hoodie.

Friends knew Crocker as Pudd Gretzcky, from Lexington.

Lexington Police have issued an arrest warrant for Joshua Lee Tevis in connection to the fatal shooting.
